I'm Lou Anders. I'm the author of the new middle grade fantasy adventure series Thrones & Bones. The first book, Frostborn, was released in August of 2014 to a starred review in Publishers Weekly and lots of acclaim.
I've always been a fan of fantasy adventure stories, and Frostborn is my attempt to write the kind of story that would have excited me as a kid (and still excites me as an adult). I wanted to introduce young readers to fantasy fiction in a book that parents and kids can enjoy together (or each on their own).
I've done a lot of things before I became an author. I wrote and directed plays in Chicago. I was a journalist out in Hollywood once upon a time, where I hung out on the sets of a lot of science fiction television shows talking to actors and directors and crew. I wrote movie scripts too, a few of which I even got paid for! I've worked for an Internet start up in San Francisco. And I've worked as an editorial director and art director in publishing. In fact, I've won the Hugo and Chesley awards for editing and art directing!
These days, there's not much I'd rather do than write the Thrones & Bones series, but when I'm not writing, I enjoy video games, reading, television and travel. I've been fortunate enough to have visited many countries around the world ─ including countries in Great Britain, Europe and Asia.
Right now I live with my family in Birmingham, Alabama.
